Zane Lowe just premiered The Weeknd’s take on Florence + the Machine’s new single Shake It Out. It’s very dark and sexy, obviously. No singing from Abel’s part (unfortunately), just additional producing and baller beats by the xo-crew.

“We tolerate everything, but we know that liberal values are designed to make us passive. We think we believe in God but we’re terrified by the mysteries of life and death. We’re deeply self-centered but can’t cope with the idea of our finite selves. We believe in progress and the power of reason, but are haunted by the darker sides of human nature. We’re obsessed with sex, but fear the sexual imagination and have to be protected by huge taboos. We believe in equality but hate the underclass. We fear our bodies and, above all, we fear death. We’re an accident of nature, but we think we’re at the centre of the universe. We’re a few steps from oblivion, but we hope we’re somehow immortal.” - J.G. Ballard
I love the retro sci-fi feel of this new video from Bjork and Michel Gondry.
The first new music from iamamiwhoami since their full-length concert film last November! I see they’re getting more and more lyrical…
Cherenkov Ultra Blue. I find these pictures inspiring and actually quite soothing.
This is my favorite color, Cherenkov radiation blue. In short, a charged particle goes through a substance moving faster than whatever the speed of light is in that substance. The particle excites electrons, and when it passes and they return to their natural, unexcited state, they emit photons — this wonderful blue glow.
Thanks to NASA for the excellent photo.

Cameras cleverly disguised as lumps of snow were able to catch some rare and amazing photos and vid of these endangered polar bears.
They almost went by unnoticed ‘til one Polar Bear destroyed $200,000 worth of camera equipment (the whole thing was caught on photo and video).

In honor of International Women’s Day, a holiday that seems to be pretty much ignored anywhere outside of the old USSR.

Whoever made synthpop revival the dominant trend, I salute you. Music has been delicious lately, I just want to eat it all up!
I love “Government Hooker” and Lady Gaga’s twisted sense of humor: “Put your hands on me, John F. Kennedy!”
